Using Computer Graphics in a Complex Construction Case

by Ira Genberg and Dana M. Richens

Summary

This column examines the expanding use of computer graphics in construction litigation. As computer software becomes more sophisticated and less costly, computer-generated graphics have become increasingly popular for the depiction of project reconstructions and simulations at trial, and for other uses. The lawyer seeking to use computer graphics at trial must be intimately familiar with the rules of evidence governing the admissibility of such graphics and with the variances in the applicable rules from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

Ira Genberg is a senior partner and Dana M. Richens is a senior associate with the Atlanta, Georgia law firm of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, specializing in national and international construction law.
