David W. Mockbee

About the Authors

David W. Mockbee is president of the Mockbee Hall & Drake, P.A. law firm in Jackson, Mississippi. David is an elected Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers, the American College of Trial Lawyers, and the Mississippi Bar Foundation and an elected Associate of the American Board of Trial Advocates; a National Board of Trial Advocacy certified civil trial advocate; and an invited Senior Counsel member of the College of Master Advocates and Barristers.

David has been an adjunct professor for the Mississippi State University School of Architecture since 1983, where he teaches “Legal Aspects of Architecture, Engineering and the Construction Process” to fifth year architecture students. He has written numerous articles relating to design and construction and the law generally including “The Measure of Malpractice—There is a Place for the Threshold Approach in Evaluating Design Errors and Omissions” published in the Journal of the American College of Construction Lawyers Vol. 7, No. 1 (Winter 2011), “Architect/Engineer Expert Witnesses: Professional or Prostitute?” published in the Journal of the American College of Construction Lawyers Vol. 5, No. 1 (Winter 2011), and “Engineer's Legal Exposure for Facilities Built on Expansive Soils” published in the American Society of Civil Engineers Journal of Performance of Constructed Facilities Vol. 25, No. 2 (Jan./Feb. 2011).

David is a panel member of the American Arbitration Association's Construction Industry Arbitration and Mediation Panels. David has been repeatedly selected to: The Best Lawyers in America; The International Who's Who of Construction Lawyers; Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business; and Mid-South Super Lawyers (top 50 in Mississippi) and has been repeatedly selected as the Jackson, MS Construction Lawyer or Litigation-Construction Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in America.

Alexander F. Guidry

Alexander F. Guidry is a stockholder in Mockbee Hall & Drake, P.A., a law firm in Jackson, Mississippi. He received his B.A. and M.B.A. from Millsaps College (1995, 1998) and his J.D. from the Mississippi College School of Law (2005, cum laude) where he was a member of the Law Review Editorial Board. Mr. Guidry is licensed to practice before all federal and state courts in Mississippi and his practice focuses primarily on commercial construction litigation and represents owners, design professionals, general contractors, and subcontractors.
